Covid-19 Lateral Flow Test 1 Schedule
This is completed before students start their academic year
Walsall Academy is committed to ensuring both student and staff safety and strongly encourages all students to undertake Lateral Flow tests in support of others within our school community.
Consequently, a number of measures will continue to be in place to minimise the risk of transmission of Covid-19 when students and staff are on site.
The prime measure being regular handwashing and sanitising for all. There may of course be additional measures implemented dependent upon DfE guidelines introduced at any point in time.
Most importantly, do not send your child to school if they feel unwell with any Covid-19 symptoms, ensure they have a PCR test and self-isolate until the test result in received.
Thursday 2 September – Year 7 Lateral Flow Test 1 only (students will then return home)
Friday 3 September – Year 11, Year 12 & Year 13 Lateral Flow Test 1 only (students will then return home)
Monday 6 September – Year 8, Year 9 & Year 10 Lateral Flow Test 1 only (students will then return home)

Induction Day for Year 7 Students
Year 7 students will arrive for 8.30am and will leave at 3.00pm. During the day they will have an assembly upon arrival then find out where their classes are for the term, meet their Personal Tutor and attend some lessons.

8.00am onwards Year 7 will arrive and be directed to Cloakroom A to wash/sanitise their hands and deposit their coats and bags. They will then be directed to the Restaurant before going to Session 1 from 8.15am. Hand sanitising will be conducted upon arrival to the classroom.

Meals
A range of hot and cold food will be available at breakfast and lunch for all year groups. £3.50 per day is a suitable allowance through ParentPay or less without breakfast. Drinks vending machines provide hot and cold drinks for 50p, chilled water is free from the dispenser and also servery.
All food and drink consumed on site must be in the Academy Restaurant.
Packed Lunches
All students are welcome to bring their own packed lunches to school and to eat them in the Restaurant. Please note fizzy drinks and energy drinks are not permitted in school.
Support
Students qualifying for financial support with school meals can also purchase their meals from the servery in the same manner as other children. Their ParentPay accounts are automatically credited each day with a set amount. This can also be topped up.
Drinks
Hot and cold drinks are available from vending machines within the Restaurant at a cost of 50p, chilled water is free from the dispenser and also servery. Hand sanitiser will be positioned at the drinks machines to be used after selecting and collecting a drink.
Meal Time Procedures
Breakfast
All students will be escorted to the Restaurant by teaching staff. They will remain in the Restaurant for the breakfast break and then be escorted back to their teaching location.
Lunch
All students with the exception of Sixth Form will be escorted to the Restaurant by teaching staff. Sixth Form students can either eat in the Restaurant or sign out to leave site at their discretion. Students will eat lunch and then will be escorted to the playground area. At the end of the lunch break students will be collected from the playground area by teaching staff and return to their teaching location. Sixth Form students will return without the supervision of teaching staff. Lunchtimes will be structured so that no year group will mix on the playground. Tables will be cleaned between each lunch sitting.
NO YEAR 7 TO 11 STUDENT WILL LEAVE THE SCHOOL PREMISES DURING THE BREAKFAST OR LUNCH BREAK.
Cloakrooms
The Academy has two cloakrooms. All coats and bags are to be left in the cloakroom in the designated areas for Year 7 – 11. No bags or coats are taken into the main body of the school except for Sixth Form students.
The cloakrooms have security cameras to safeguard students’ belongings.

All students will be issued with their full timetable by email or during the Induction Day (Year 7).
Session 3 Activities
The Session 3 activity programme will commence from Monday 20 September
What to bring to school on your First Day
All students should remember:
- Money on ParentPay for meals or a packed lunch
- A pen, pencil, ruler and rubber
- School Folder and exercise books (if at home from the previous academic year)
Important Note
Year 7 & 11 students (on Monday 6 September) and Year 8 students (on Tuesday 7 September) should bring their P.E. Kit.
Identity Badges
Students are expected to wear their badge at all times pinned onto the student jacket.
Year 7 and Year 12 will be issued with an identity badge at the start of term.
Year 8, 9, 10, 11 and Year 13 will use their current badges, most of which will have been retained by the academy during the Summer holiday to be re-issued on the first day back in school.
