Vision Statement

The Vision for AAT is to initially develop students understanding of the building blocks of accounting and provide the platform to apply the knowledge in undertaking double entry transactions through posting transactions into respective ledger accounts. Students will be equipped with knowledge and application in principles of bookkeeping, including the essential building blocks of double entry bookkeeping, balancing accounts in the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers and being able to produce a trail balance. They will complete the first two assessments for the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.

In Year 13 students will build upon their bookkeeping skills and understanding of the Accountancy function to understand the role it plays within the wider organisation. In support of this they will understand the impact the external environment has on businesses, the legal structures that businesses adopt, the importance of CSR, ethics and sustainability, and communication within a business. This will equip them to have a holistic view of the functioning of businesses to support them as they either continue to Higher Education to study business or embark upon their careers having already gained a professional qualification from the leading industry body for accounting technicians, setting themselves ahead of the competition when applying for apprenticeships in accounting.
