Vision Statement

Our Key Stage 5 Economics program aspires to empower students with a comprehensive understanding of economic principles and their real-world applications. We envision equipping our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to confidently transition to university, apprenticeship, or the workforce, fully prepared to excel in their chosen path.

Our curriculum not only instils a deep grasp of economic theories and concepts but also encourages the development of critical thinking skills. We believe in nurturing the capacity to analyse complex economic issues, propose innovative solutions, and evaluate the impact of government policies. Moreover, we emphasise adaptability, recognising that the economic landscape is ever-evolving. Individuals, firms, markets and market failure (Microeconomics)

Students will need to grasp microeconomic models, such as demand and supply, competition, monopoly, and market dynamics, applying them to real-world issues. They should understand that economic agents act rationally but also explore more complex behavioural models. Additionally, they should apply their knowledge to various situations, including market failures, environmental issues, and global economic influences during their studies.

The national and international economy (Macroeconomics)

Students need to grasp microeconomic concepts, to analyse the effects of macroeconomic changes. They should be well-informed about the UK economy and government policies of the past fifteen years, along with global economic developments, especially within the European Union. Students should also be aware of various macroeconomic models, understand their assumptions and limitations, and be able to propose and evaluate solutions for macroeconomic issues, including government policies.
