Vision Statement

Our mission is to create an inclusive environment that inspires and empowers young musicians to reach their fullest potential. We envision a community where every individual is encouraged to explore their musical talents within performance, composition and production as well as instil a lifelong love and appreciation for music. We strive to provide a platform for students to showcase their skills, take risks, and push their boundaries.

Specification being followed: At Key Stage 4, students’ study Eduqas GCSE Music. The course allows students to cover a wide range of musical genres, as well as the opportunity to further develop their skills in performance, composition and musical analysis. There are regular opportunities for live performance work both within the classroom setting and during Session 3.

Component 1 – Performing (30%)

Students develop their practical musicianship through solo and ensemble performance activities. They refine technical and expressive skills through rehearsal, performance and self-evaluation, preparing for the GCSE Performance component.

Component 2 – Composing (30%)

Students explore how music is created through the use of melody, harmony, structure, texture and musical devices. They apply these techniques when composing original music for the Eduqas GCSE Music Composition component.

Component 3 - Listening and Appraising (40%)

Students investigate a wide range of musical styles and genres through the four Areas of Study:

Forms and Devices
Music for Ensemble
Film Music
Popular Music

They learn to identify key musical features, analyse extracts using musical vocabulary and develop the listening skills required for the GCSE listening examination.
