Vision Statement

Our mission is to provide professional dance practice and instil an appreciation for the art of dance in a safe, high-quality studio environment. We aspire to present our Year 10 and 11 students with the expertise, knowledge and ability to further their career in Dance. The offering of components showcase and develop their technique and performance skills which is paramount alongside allowing them to obtain collaboration and communication skills to encourage a well-rounded dancer.

Specification being followed: At Key Stage 4, students’ study the BTEC Tech Award pathway in Performing Arts, specialising in the Dance route. The course allows students to cover a wide range of dance styles, professional works and choreographers. There are consistent opportunities for live performance work along with visits to perform at other venues and to watch professional dance work.

Component 1 – Exploring the Performing Arts

Learners will develop their understanding of the performing arts by examining the work of performing arts professionals and the processes used to create performance. They will investigate how professional performance work is created and demonstrate understanding of the skills, techniques and approaches used by professionals to create performance work.

Component 2 – Developing Skills and Techniques in the Performing Arts

Learners will develop their performing arts skills and techniques through the reproduction of dance a repertoire as performer. They will use rehearsal processes, apply skills and techniques in performance and review own development and application of performance or skills.

Component 3 – Responding to a Brief

Learners will be given the opportunity to work as part of a group to contribute to a workshop performance as a performer in response to a brief and stimulus.
